Erdogan Refuses to Accept Refugees from Afghanistan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has rejected the idea of accepting refugees from Afghanistan and called on the European Union to take responsibility for the migration crisis in the region. This information was reported by Reuters.
The politician stated that his country will not become a storage facility for Afghan migrants for Europe. According to Erdogan, Ankara has taken sufficient measures in collaboration with Tehran to curb the flow of refugees, and now European countries need to take responsive actions.
The Turkish president also admitted that he is ready to sit at the negotiating table with members of the Taliban terrorist movement to jointly address the existing issues.
Earlier, the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ilva Johansson, stated that EU countries truly need to allow more refugees from Afghanistan to enter. She called for the bloc to cancel the forced repatriation of illegal migrants from that country and to increase their intake quotas. The Commissioner also emphasized that it is now necessary to assist those in need of international protection.
