Enhanced Policing in Yerevan: Inspections Ongoing

On the evening of August 18, officers from the Main Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the police, Yerevan city administration, and subordinate divisions, as well as patrol and traffic police, conducted enhanced policing across all administrative districts of the capital.

The personnel were instructed by the First Deputy Chief of Police, Aram Hovhannisyan. The goals of the enhanced policing include maintaining public order, ensuring traffic safety, and preventing and detecting crimes and administrative violations, which were presented to the heads of the units by the Deputy Chief.

Aram Hovhannisyan emphasized that personnel should interact with citizens in a proper manner, while also being strict, and act solely in accordance with the law.

Following the briefing, the personnel proceeded with enhanced service. During the operations carried out in Yerevan and the surrounding roadways, 82 individuals were taken to the police for various suspicions, and over 900 vehicles were inspected.

Searches and inspections led to the discovery of various firearms, knives, blunt objects, batons, and counterfeit license plates. Additionally, voluntary surrender cases involving illegal firearms and grenades with detonators were recorded at the Arabkir police station.

During the enhanced policing, illegal drug violations were also uncovered, with various types of narcotics weighing a total of 9 grams being found.

It can be noted that the enhanced service was effective. Such special operations are conducted periodically.
