Azerbaijani Positions Empty at Yeghtsahogh Border, Troops Withdrawn: Yeghtsahogh Mayor

Early this morning around 10 AM, Azerbaijani troops have withdrawn from their positions at the Yeghtsahogh border, and their positions are currently empty. This was stated by Artak Hakobyan, the mayor of Yeghtsahogh village in the Shushi region, in an interview with Tert.am.

“The Azerbaijani troops had advanced about 1 kilometer after our soldiers left, began engineering work, and established positions. Today, they have withdrawn from their occupied positions and are now remaining in the area that previously belonged to the community's cattle farm,” he said.

Hakobyan noted that they have agreed with Russian peacekeepers to ensure that their patrols are conducted around the clock. “Currently, patrol duties are being carried out, but we were informed that soon the duty will be made round-the-clock,” Yeghtsahogh mayor Artak Hakobyan said.

As previously reported, soldiers of the Armenian Armed Forces were recently withdrawn from Yeghtsahogh positions. There was a bilateral agreement that the Armenian forces would withdraw from the Yeghtsahogh border, Azerbaijani troops would pull back, and the border would be monitored by Russian peacekeepers. After the withdrawal of the Armenian troops, the Azerbaijanis did not leave but rather advanced 1 kilometer.
