Russia May Assist Turkey in Producing 5th Generation Fighter Jets
Russia and Turkey could initiate negotiations on joint production of military aircraft. This was announced by Sergey Chemezov, the CEO of the Russian state-owned defense conglomerate Rostec, as reported by Ermenihaber.
“We are always open to dialogue. If Turkey shows interest, we are ready to cooperate in this direction as well. We know that Turkey intends to implement the project for the production of its own 5th generation TF-X fighter jet. With our experience in aviation systems, development, and manufacturing, we can consider possibilities of support for the creation of a new Turkish fighter jet,” he stated.
Chemezov also pointed out that Turkey and Russia could discuss the combined production of military helicopters. The TF-X fighter jet project is being developed by the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and is estimated to cost around $10 billion. As part of this initiative, Turkey is also considering joining the South Korean KFX fighter project.
