Response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Issue of Territorial Exchange

The Republic of Armenia is not conducting negotiations with any country regarding the issue of territorial exchange. This was stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia in response to inquiries from the 'Hetq' publication.

The query was prompted by the process of deploying Russian checkpoints in the Tavush region.

'The foreign policy agency confirms that the placement of Russian checkpoints near the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line is being conducted based on a broad legal framework of agreements signed and in effect between Armenia and Russia since 1991,' the agency stated.

Regarding the issue of addressing the United Nations Security Council about the illegal violations of Armenia's state border by Azerbaijani armed forces, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the publication that this option is not currently being considered. According to the Ministry, Armenia regularly informs the members of the Security Council about the encroachments carried out by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of Armenia.
