Putin and Raisi Discuss Prospects for Resuming Iran Nuclear Deal Implementation

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, held a telephone conversation with Iran's newly elected President Ebrahim Raisi, during which they discussed the prospects for resuming the implementation of Iran's nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This information was reported by the Kremlin's press service.

The source indicates that both Putin and Raisi expressed satisfaction with the level of Russian-Iranian relations. The presidents also discussed the implementation of major joint projects and the collaborative fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

President Putin congratulated Ebrahim Raisi on his election victory and his assumption of the presidency of Iran.

According to TASS, this was Raisi's first phone conversation with Putin after his election to the presidential office in June.
