Numerous External and Internal Challenges Threatening Armenia Remain Unresolved: Pashinyan

Numerous external and internal challenges threatening Armenia remain unresolved. This statement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the government meeting where the government program for 2021-2026 was presented.

The Prime Minister noted that the heavy consequences of the 44-day war have significantly changed Armenia's external environment, not only exacerbating several previously existing challenges but also bringing about new ones.

“The protection of Armenia's external security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as ensuring a fair resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and creating a favorable regional atmosphere around Armenia, remain a priority. To address these issues, the government, which has received a vote of confidence from the people, intends to take serious measures towards uniting the best public and national potentials. The ruling Civil Contract Party and the government it formed have a mandate from the people to establish a dictatorship of law and justice in Armenia and are unwaveringly implementing that mandate. Opening a new era of peaceful development for Armenia and the region is the greatest mission undertaken by the government following the results of the snap elections,” emphasized Nikol Pashinyan.

He highlighted that the Armenian government accepts its share of responsibility and obligations to open a new era of peaceful development in the region. According to Nikol Pashinyan, this is their main political message, expressed in the preamble of the government program.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the program pays special attention to our security challenges, and the first section of the program outlines the key factors for ensuring Armenia's security. “The first mentioned is the modernized Armenian army. As another crucial factor for ensuring security, I must emphasize active foreign policy. Armenia must conduct an active and proactive foreign policy by engaging with all countries,” stated Nikol Pashinyan.
