Humanity is 'Walking Towards Destruction' says Shoigu, Identifying Causes of Possible Extinction

The Russian Minister of Defense and President of the Russian Geographical Society, Sergey Shoigu, stated in an interview with the magazine Vokrug Sveta that due to the irrational waste of natural resources, humanity may soon face extinction.

“I would like to express a thought that I believe will not sit well with many. It seems to me that humanity is walking towards its own destruction in seven-league strides. And the reason for that is the unrestrained desire to consume,” Shoigu said.

The minister referred to his and his grandfather's experiences, who was a hunter. “I remember my hunter grandfather. He went into the taiga to hunt animals. He could have hunted more, but he didn’t, as he knew that he wouldn’t eat that much meat, and next year there would be fewer animals. That is a rule created not by bureaucracy, but by the laws of life,” the general explained.
