Erdogan Announces Turkey's Readiness to Cooperate with Taliban
The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has declared that his country is prepared to collaborate with the Taliban, the radical movement that has seized power in Afghanistan.
“We are ready for all kinds of cooperation in order to maintain peace for the Afghan people, ensure the well-being of Turkish citizens living in that country, and protect the interests of our state,” Erdogan's statements were quoted by the Anadolu Agency.
The Taliban entered Kabul on August 15 without fighting and established complete control over the capital of Afghanistan within a few hours. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced that he had resigned to prevent bloodshed and left the country. Western countries are evacuating their citizens and embassy staff.
