Armenia Not Engaged in Land Exchange Negotiations, Says Foreign Ministry

The Republic of Armenia is not conducting negotiations with any country regarding land exchanges. This statement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia in response to an inquiry from the news outlet 'Hetq'. The inquiry was prompted by the process of deploying Russian observation posts in the Tavush region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the authorized body from the Armenian side responsible for implementing this process is the Ministry of Defense; however, the Foreign Ministry also has a role in it. The diplomatic office emphasized that the placement of Russian observation posts near the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line is being carried out based on a broad legal framework established through various cooperation agreements signed between Armenia and Russia since 1991.
