An Additional 361 Million AMD will be Allocated to the NSS to Strengthen Border Control

The Republic of Armenia will allocate 361 million 749 thousand AMD to the National Security Service (NSS) to strengthen border control along the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line. The relevant draft decision was approved by the government today as part of a package of unreported issues.

The NSS has justified the necessity of this project by the fact that, as a result of the war, its border troops' relevant units have been stationed at Armenia's southern borders, leading to a number of critical issues.

"To ensure proper protection of the aforementioned section of the state border and to guarantee the normal functioning of the service, it has become necessary to provide new recruits of the NSS border troops with food, housing, and other minimum conditions," the justification states.

Moreover, it is noted that due to the current situation, there is a need to undertake certain works in the relevant section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line, which will allow for the strengthening of the border control system.
