Six Individuals Charged in Misappropriation Case at Hematological Center, Two Currently on the Run

The investigation carried out by the investigative department of the Yerevan City Investigative Committee has uncovered circumstances surrounding the misappropriation cases committed by the director of the "Professor R.O. Yolyan Hematological Center" LLC.

According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, the former director of the "Professor R.O. Yolyan Hematological Center" LLC, who held the position from 2001 until May 2018, used his official position to manage additional payments and bonuses available to the employees of the company. Between 2010 and 2018, in agreement with the center's accountants and with the assistance of the heads of the immunology laboratory, serology, and pediatric departments, he embezzled 50% of the additional payments and bonuses entitled to the employees of these departments, totaling 26,514,391 AMD.

In addition, with the assistance of his friend's wife and the head of the HR department, from December 2011 to June 26, 2018, the former director signed an employment contract with his friend's wife and accepted her for a position as a histologist at the center. Despite knowing she did not attend work or fulfill her job responsibilities, he utilized his official position to approve and validate fictitious "Payroll Calculation Reports" containing false information about her attendance and actual hours worked, resulting in the embezzlement of 5,507,031 AMD during the aforementioned period.

As a result of the misappropriation, 26,514,391 AMD was restored during the pre-trial investigation. Based on sufficient evidence, the former director of the "Professor R.O. Yolyan Hematological Center" LLC has been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 (2 episodes) and Article 314, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. One of the company's chief accountants has been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 of the Criminal Code, and the heads of the immunology laboratory, serology, and pediatric departments have been charged under Article 38-179, Part 3, Point 1. Additionally, the former director's friend's wife has also faced charges under Article 38-179, Part 3, Point 1. Measures have been taken to prevent their departure from the country, with a signature not to leave enforced.

The investigation concerning these six defendants has been completed and has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion. In order to clarify a number of significant circumstances regarding the criminal case, a decision was made to separate parts of the case, on which the other chief accountant of the company was included as a defendant under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 of the Criminal Code, while the head of the HR department has been charged under Articles 38-179, Part 3, Point 1 and 38-314, Part 1. They are currently wanted.
