Goris Community Acting Head, Deputy, and Two Municipality Employees Arrested

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has uncovered a series of circumstances related to abuses committed in the Goris community municipality, as well as instances where the acting head of the community forced residents to participate in the pre-election campaign.

In particular, following extensive investigative and procedural actions, evidence has been gathered indicating that Menua Hovsepyan, the deputy head of the Goris community, used his official position and dependence to compel the administrative head of the Karahunj settlement, under his service dependency, to ensure the participation of 80 individuals in a rally organized by the "Armenia" alliance for the snap elections of the National Assembly on June 20, 2021, on June 8, 2021.

Additionally, during the pre-election campaign, the deputy head held numerous meetings with community residents, in which he expressed the community's readiness to address the needs of socially disadvantaged persons, stating that those interested could submit applications to the community head.
