Annual Maximum Water Release from Lake Sevan Set at Up to 245 Million Cubic Meters

The Parliament has adopted in the first reading a draft law on "Annual and Comprehensive Programs for the Restoration, Preservation, Reproduction, and Use of the Ecosystem of Lake Sevan." The draft was approved with a vote of 64 in favor and 19 against.

The draft proposes to set the annual maximum water release from Lake Sevan at up to 245 million cubic meters for the year 2021. As the main reporter, Karen Sargsyan, the head of the Water Committee, justified, a shortage of water has been established in the Northern and Sevan Basin Management areas, which served as the basis for the development of the law.
