I am not generally a supporter of conspiracy theories, but the processes that are occurring with Syunik's mayors allow me to suggest that there might be plans in Syunik that require strong mayors to be sidelined. This was stated today by Anna Grigoryan, a member of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction, during a conversation with reporters.

Anna Grigoryan emphasized that the authorities are currently trying to remove the mayor of Kapan, Gevorg Parsiayn, even going so far as to initiate criminal proceedings against him. "Gevorg Parsiayn was elected in 2018 and can remain in office until 2023. Today, they are creating a situation where members of the Kapan council would resign and new elections would be held. As far as I know, the authorities have also attempted to implement criminal prosecution against Gevorg Parsiayn, but they have not succeeded and are trying to remove him in this way," said Anna Grigoryan.

According to the deputy, there is a political order in place concerning the mayors of Syunik. "There are no such prosecutions against mayors of other communities, while the authorities have a special attitude towards Syunik. Syunik's mayors have clearly expressed their positions before the elections, stating that this government must leave because they cannot ensure our security. The processes occurring against them are simply revenge," Anna Grigoryan stated.
