Public Transport in Georgia to Halt Due to Surge in COVID-19 Cases
In Georgia, the authorities have decided to impose strict restrictions for three weeks due to a sharp increase in coronavirus infection cases. Starting this Saturday, public transportation will cease operations, the working hours of cafes and restaurants will be reduced, and festivals will be prohibited. This information was reported by the information portal 'Georgia Online,' referencing the head of the operational headquarters of the interagency coordination council against COVID-19, Giorgi Gibriadze.
Gibriadze stated that the new restrictions will be in effect from August 14 to September 4. The new bans do not apply to international communication.
On August 12 alone, Georgia registered 5,128 new coronavirus cases. In total, there have been 466,326 reported infections throughout the pandemic, with 6,279 deaths recorded.
