Pavel Manukyan Charged for Statements on Overthrowing Nikol Pashinyan
The criminal case initiated against Pavel Manukyan regarding his statements about the overthrow of Nikol Pashinyan will be examined by Judge Karen Farhoyan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. This information was obtained by 'Pastinfo' from the judicial information system.
Pavel Manukyan made such a statement on February 8, while participating in a protest near the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, supporting the then imprisoned former Member of Parliament and freedom fighter Vahan Badazyan. Referring to Badazyan's comments about overthrowing Nikol Pashinyan made at Yerablur, he indicated that he too intends to overthrow, as do thousands like them.
A criminal case has been initiated against Manukyan on the grounds of public calls for violence, as well as justifying or promoting violence publicly. He has been charged under part 1 of Article 226.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which relates to public calls for violence based on gender, race, skin color, ethnic or social origin, genetic characteristics, language, religion, worldview, political or other beliefs, national minority status, property status, birth, disability, age, or other personal or social circumstances. A signature was applied as a preventive measure to ensure that he does not leave.
