10 Residents of Khndzoresk Village Poisoned, They Claim They Consumed Water from a Tank
Six citizens have been hospitalized in the infectious diseases unit of the Armavir Medical Center with a diagnosis of "intestinal infection." All are residents of the Khndzoresk village in the Armavir region. Among the hospitalized patients, three were transferred to the hospital yesterday, and three today.
Dr. Ashkhen Poghosyan, an epidemiologist at Armavir Medical Center, stated in an interview with Hetq that a total of 10 citizens from Khndzoresk village sought medical help yesterday and today; of these, four have returned home after receiving treatment, while six continue to undergo treatment in the infectious diseases unit.
The patients indicated in their medical history that they had used water from a tank, raising suspicions about its safety. "Laboratory tests have been conducted, but it’s unclear what results will be yielded. The process is ongoing," Dr. Ashkhen Poghosyan said.
The head of the Khndzoresk community, Artak Aroyan, mentioned that the community has 24-hour water supply; however, the water is not suitable for drinking. According to the mayor, the water is supplied from a deep well and is considered technical. Residents of Khndzoresk obtain drinking water from tanks brought in from Talin.
"Preliminary data suggests that the infection stemmed from the water brought in by the tank. However, it has not yet been confirmed," the mayor of Khndzoresk stated.
