Relatives of Some Victims of the 44-Day War Wish to Relocate Their Graves
Relatives of those who died in the 44-day Artsakh war and were buried in Armenia wish to transfer the graves of their loved ones. This is reported by armeniasputnik.am.
This becomes clear from a draft decision published on the website of the Government of Armenia, whereby the Ministry of Health proposes to make amendments to the existing regulations to provide them with this opportunity.
The issue is that the Armenian law “On the Organization of Burials and the Operation of Cemeteries and Crematoria” has a clear timeline for reburials—"at least three years after burial." In response to the wishes of the relatives of the war victims, the ministry proposes not to apply time restrictions in the cases of the victims of the Artsakh war.
“Since relatives of individuals buried in the Republic of Armenia wish to relocate the bodies, the necessity for the proposed regulation has arisen,” the draft’s justifications state.
The draft is included in the agenda for the government meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
