Covering Brawls is Not the Media's Function, Says Vladimir Vardanyan

I have always been and will remain a defender of journalists and an advocate for freedom of speech. However, if there are certain restrictions applicable to all without discrimination, it should not be perceived as a limitation on journalists. This was stated today by Vladimir Vardanyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction, during a press briefing with journalists at the National Assembly (NA). He referred to the suspension of the live broadcast following an incident that took place in the session hall, as well as the fact that journalists were forced to exit the chamber.

In response to the observation that journalists unable to stay in the chamber cannot cover possible brawls among deputies, Vardanyan remarked, “Covering brawls, in my opinion, is not the function of the media.” According to Vardanyan, there are certain limitations in almost all areas of activity, and they are necessary to prevent harm to other rights and types of activities.
