You Forced Me to Return to Politics, Dear Colleagues: Hakobyan
Vache Hakobyan, the candidate for the position of Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs proposed by the "Armenia" alliance, commented today during a Q&A session with MPs on when and why he left the ranks of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
"In December 2017, I was elected as the head of the RPA Syunik regional organization and I ceased my membership according to my application in July or August 2018," said Vache Hakobyan.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and member of the Civil Contract party Ruben Rubinyan inquired about the reasons for his departure, recalling that during that period many were leaving the ranks of the RPA, which was stripped of power.
"It was due to one reason: I no longer wanted to engage in politics at that moment. You forced me to return to politics, dear colleagues," Hakobyan said.
As for why he did not return to the RPA, Vache Hakobyan explained that when he decided to return to politics, he had a clear intention to establish his own party.
"Analyzing the good and bad sides of the RPA, its shortcomings, we decided to create the party through which we could present ourselves in the political life of Armenia," said Hakobyan.
Today, the "Armenia" alliance has proposed the candidacy of MP Vache Hakobyan, the former governor of Syunik, for the position of Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs.
During the August 9 session, the Civil Contract party proposed the candidacies of Vladimir Vardanyan for the position of Chairman of the Permanent Commission on State-Legal Issues and Andranik Kocharyan for the position of Chairman of the Defense and Security Issues Committee.
