I Don't Believe You When You Say to Stay Calm and That You Won't Sign a Document Behind the People's Back: Saghatelyan
You have not become a real government. You continue to act like an irresponsible opposition. This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, during a parliamentary session.
“Is there a country in the world where the government blames the opposition for all its failures? There is no such thing. It’s absurd. We say we had a war; under your rule, 75 percent of Artsakh was surrendered. You come and stand at this podium and say that the previous ones did it, and you have nothing to do with it. We say the enemy has entered the sovereign territory of Armenia in two directions, and the territorial integrity of our country is at risk, while you stand at this podium and say that in 2010 certain territorial divisions were handed over to Azerbaijan. How much longer can you deceive people?” said Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
The Deputy Speaker noted that 22 years ago, a tragedy occurred in that hall and interestingly, many of those who were officials at that time are still in office today, including Andranik Kocharyan, Gagik Jhangiryan, and Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
“For a week now, we have been asking: what are you negotiating about, and with whom are you negotiating? You say, ‘Stay calm, we will not sign a document behind the people's back.’ I don’t believe you; you have already accepted a tragic document behind the people’s back once. Don’t come in two to three months and suddenly stand at this podium saying you received a mandate for peace from the people and take the country to new concessions. Then you will see real wrath,” emphasized Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
The representative noted that Andranik Kocharyan repeatedly mentioned Vazgen Sargsyan during his speech, saying that he was his comrade-in-arms and ideological partner. Ishkhan Saghatelyan raised the question: when the Turks were desecrating his statue in Shushi, did he feel guilty?
