14 Illegal Nets Removed from Lake Sevan, Says Minister
As the fishing season for industrial fishing comes to a close, following an urgent consultation held last week, the protection department of the 'Sevan' National Park conducted a special patrol on Lake Sevan today. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Minister of Environment of Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan.
The protection department of the 'Sevan' National Park, in collaboration with the Police of Armenia and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Subsoil Management, continues the process of removing and destroying nets used by those engaged in illegal fishing for juvenile fish through special measures.
Today, 14 illegal nets have been removed from the lake. The nets have been confiscated and destroyed in accordance with the law. The patrol will continue for several more days as needed.
Reminder: The second phase of the fishing season for industrial fishing at Lake Sevan ends on September 1, as per the Government's decision, until the start of the new fishing season.
