Destroy Azerbaijani Intruders: Why Was Such a Harsh Statement Necessary Now?

The "Zhoghovurd" daily reports that the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Armenia, Arshak Karapetyan, made a significant announcement yesterday. In particular, during a meeting of the Defense Ministry Collegium, he ordered the destruction of Azerbaijani military personnel attempting to cross the Armenian border.

This statement is notable for its severity. During this time, similar calls have been made from the Defense Ministry, but the former minister, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, and even Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, had issued milder statements. So why was there a necessity for such a strong statement now? It is important to note that this announcement followed a meeting on July 27 in Moscow between Russia's Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and Arshak Karapetyan, who is carrying out the duties of the Minister of Defense of Armenia.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defense welcomed the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Rustam Muradov, yesterday to discuss the border situation. It has also become clear that Russian border guards have recently been stationed in the area around Vayots Dzor’s Voskepar settlement, with construction work underway for the building of infrastructure to support these guards.

This indicates that Armenia’s borders are gradually being handed over to Russia, a process undertaken by the government of Nikol Pashinyan, which frequently asserts the sovereignty of Armenia.
