National Assembly Bans Journalist from Entering Building, Actions Will Retard Country's Position in Global Press Freedom Index – Doydoyan

Actions taken will push the country back in the Global Press Freedom Index. This was stated by Shushan Doydoyan, head of the Center for Freedom of Information, on her Facebook page in response to the National Assembly's ban on journalist Lilian Galstyan from entering the Assembly building.

She specifically noted, “This is unacceptable. One of the most diligent journalists in the field, Lilian Galstyan, has now been banned from entering the National Assembly building. This information was received today by Panorama.am from the Deputy Head of the Assembly's Staff.”

Lilian recorded yesterday with photographs how individuals in military uniforms were blocking journalists' movements within the National Assembly, bringing this to the public's attention through striking images. “These actions will push the country back in the Global Press Freedom Index,” she added.

The Assembly has banned Panorama.am's photographer from entering parliament.
