Fact: Materials Being Prepared Based on Vanetsyan's Statements
The newspaper "Fact" reports: "During both the pre-election and especially the post-election period, there have been regular reports that state institutions are enforcing dismissals of employees who hold opposition views. In particular, on July 21, 2021, during an interview with Petros Ghazaryan on Public Television, the leader of the "Homeland" party and head of the "I Have Honor" alliance, Arthur Vanetsyan, stated: 'Our team members are being dismissed from their jobs due to political views. Our teammates, who are elected community leaders, are being forced to resign' (starting from the 16th minute of the program).
Subsequently, A. Vanetsyan provided an example of a nurse working at the Vanadzor hospital (referring specifically to the Vanadzor Infectious Diseases Hospital, as clarified later) who was a member of the "I Have Honor" alliance, who was summoned at the regional governor's level and told, 'Write your resignation, and leave, because you have been a supporter of the "Homeland" party.'
The "Fact" newspaper sent an inquiry to the Prosecutor General's office, requesting a response to whether the Prosecutor's office has considered A. Vanetsyan's statements as a report of a crime and whether a criminal case has been initiated. A response was received from the Prosecutor's office, which particularly stated: 'The interview of A. Vanetsyan with Petros Ghazaryan aired on Public Television has been examined as part of ongoing monitoring. The recording of the mentioned interview has been sent to the Prosecutor of Lori Province to verify the allegations of apparent criminal offenses made by A. Vanetsyan in accordance with the established procedure.'
We also appealed to the Lori Province Prosecutor's office, where we received the following response: 'Materials are being prepared in accordance with Articles 180 and 181 of the Criminal Procedure Code. A final decision has not yet been made. The supervising prosecutor is Vahe Dolmazyan, the deputy prosecutor of the region.'
