Who is the newly appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan

As already reported, President Armen Sarkissian has signed a decree stating, "Based on the Prime Minister's proposal, in accordance with Article 150 of the Constitution, to appoint Narek MKRTCHYAN as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs." Below is Narek Mkrtchyan's biography.

He was born on June 20, 1989, in the village of Parakar in the Armavir region. He graduated from the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University in 2010. He is a historian. In 2012, he completed a master's program at the same faculty. In 2013, he received a master's degree from the American University of Armenia (Political Science and International Relations). In 2017, he completed his doctoral studies at the Department of World History at Yerevan State University. He is a candidate of historical sciences.

From 2015 to 2016, he was an assistant professor at the American University of Armenia and coordinator of the Armenian history course. Since 2016, he has been teaching at the American University of Armenia, and in 2018 at the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University. From 2017 to 2018, he was involved with the Ayb Educational Foundation. Since 2018, he has coordinated the Study of Small States Initiative at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the American University of Armenia.

He has lectured at prestigious universities and research centers in the United States, Germany, France, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, and Georgia. On December 9, 2018, he was elected to the National Assembly from the electoral list of the “My Step” alliance in electoral district No. 6. His parliamentary powers were terminated on April 28, 2021. On April 29, 2021, he was appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. On August 2, 2021, he was appointed as Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

He is the author of a collective monograph and 14 scientific articles published in reputable Armenian and international journals. He is not married.
