Shots Fired in Yerevan: Bullet Marks Found on Range Rover Belonging to Prominent Businessman

Today, August 1, shots were fired in Yerevan. Around 00:40, the Operational Management Center of the Yerevan Police received a call reporting gunfire from Khanjyan Street towards Vernissage.

Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports from the scene that several high-ranking officials, including the First Deputy Chief of the RA Police Aram Hovhannisyan, Chief of the Criminal Police Department Vardan Vardanian, Chief of the Patrol Service Arthur Umrustatyan, and the Head of the Yerevan Police Sevan Kocharyan, have arrived. Also on site are the Deputy Head of the Operational Division Arthur Zakaryan and Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department Hovhannes Aristakesyan.

A rapid response team from the Central Police Department, led by Chief Arman Papyan, has also arrived at the scene. Forensic experts from the Police Forensic Expertise Division are currently working at the site.

Investigators from the 3rd Investigation Division of the Kentron and Norq Marash Administrative Districts, led by Chief Hovhannes Chalabyan and Senior Investigator Argam Dallakyan, are conducting an examination of the scene.

While the investigators and forensic experts were working, officers from the second battalion of Yerevan's patrol police, under the command of Levon Badalyan, discovered approximately eight spent cartridges at the scene.

Further away from the gunfire scene, near Republic Square in front of the statue of Aram Manukyan, the patrol officers found a Range Rover with license plate 50 DD 555 that showed several bullet marks. According to information, the Range Rover belongs to a prominent businessman in Armenia, whose name is withheld at this time for the sake of the investigation.
