Heavy Rain and Hail Damage Karaberd Village Croplands
Yesterday, around 5:00 PM, a strong hailstorm hit the Karaberd village in the Ani region. The hail and heavy rain that lasted almost 50 minutes caused mudflows, sweeping away barley fields and household plots located at the village's entrance.
According to Sasun Melikyan, a resident of the village, in an interview with SHANTNEWS.am, the mudflows flooded the entire village, carrying off the crop. The barley fields had been ready for harvesting for the past 10 days, but due to the lack of a combine harvester, the villagers were unable to harvest the barley, and the hail has completely damaged the croplands. In some areas, thick layers of hail are still present.
In the evening, employees of the community administration surveyed the damaged fields, taking photos and documenting the losses to report to the regional administration.
