Attempted Murder in Yerevan: Investigative Committee

At 00:55 today, the Central Division of the RA Police received a report from a citizen stating that shots were fired at their vehicle near Saharov Square in Yerevan.

As a result of the measures taken, it was found that on the same day, around 00:55, an individual suspected of committing a crime fired shots at the "Range Rover Sport" vehicle of the aforementioned citizen with an illegally possessed firearm, with the intent to unlawfully take the life of the individual. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the crime was not completed.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Central and Norq-Marash administrative districts on the basis of Article 34-104, Part 1, and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

During the initial investigation, eight 9mm shell casings were discovered and seized at the crime scene, while an examination of the aforementioned vehicle revealed five bullet strikes near the driver's door. Several individuals have been interrogated, surveillance footage from the crime scene has been confiscated, and a forensic examination has been appointed.

As a result of urgent investigative and procedural actions, the identity of the individual suspected of committing the crime has been established, revealing that they are a resident of Yerevan. This individual has been involved as a defendant under Article 34-104, Part 2, Point 1, and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

A decision has been made by the prosecuting authority to arrest them, which has been assigned to the respective division of the RA Police.

The investigation is ongoing.
