Kremlin Has Not Heard Any Statement on Creation of Turkish-Azerbaijani United Army, Peskov Says

The Kremlin has not heard any announcements regarding the plans to create a united Turkic army from the executive powers of Azerbaijan and Turkey. This statement was made by the spokesperson for the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, as reported by TASS.

“We are not aware of any statements from the executive authorities, the President of Turkey, or the President of Azerbaijan,” Peskov said in response to reporters' questions about whether Moscow is concerned about Ankara and Baku's potential creation of a unified Turkic army.

“Of course, Azerbaijan and Turkey are developing bilateral relations; this is their sovereign matter. It is important that this does not harm the stability and predictability of the region. In this regard, we have regular contacts with both Turkish and Azerbaijani partners,” Peskov noted.

It should be reminded that on July 28, reports emerged that the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Şentop, announced the creation of a Turkic united army by Turkey and Azerbaijan. Shortly thereafter, both Şentop and the Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan denied the news.
