Baku Court Sentences 13 Shirak Prisoners of War to 6 Years in Prison
Today, the trial of 13 Shirak prisoners of war continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court, presided over by Judge Faig Hasanov. According to Azerbaijani media, related documents were examined, after which the trial was deemed concluded.
In his speech, the prosecutor requested the removal of charges under articles 214.2.1 and 214.2.3 for committing terrorism, as well as article 279.2 for the creation of an illegal armed group. The state prosecutor demanded that the Armenian prisoners be punished under articles 318.2 for illegal crossing of the border and 228.3 for illegal possession of weapons.
The prosecutor requested that the Armenian prisoners be sentenced to 7 years in prison, with the condition that they would be expelled from Azerbaijan after serving their sentence. However, the court decided to sentence each of the Armenian prisoners to 6 years in prison. The ruling states that after serving their sentence, they must be expelled from Azerbaijan.
The 13 Armenian prisoners of war are: Yeghishe Astanyan, Karen Aramyan, Tigran Avagyan, Grigor Gevorgyan, Hovsep Manukyan, Gevorg Martirosyan, Robert Gevorgyan, Vagarshak Avetisyan, Volodya Hakobyan, Andranik Sukiasyan, Andranik Manukyan, Grigor Saghatelian, and Eduard Kirakosyan.
