Yesterday, the adversary fired shots from Shushi, and Artsakh authorities have remained silent: ArmDaily
It has become known to ArmDaily.am that yesterday there were shots fired from Shushi by the adversary, yet there has been no official statement from the Artsakh authorities. Metakse Hakobyan, a member of the Artsakh Parliament from the 'Justice' faction, told the media that the gunfire from Shushi is continuous.
'These are the shots that have been constantly occurring along the border. Now, as the border has approached us, in more densely populated areas, the bullets are coming closer to us, which means that these shots are clearly heard by the residents. We hear those shots in Stepanakert. Since November 9, there hasn’t been a day without gunfire from the Turks. They fire at both the air and specific targets, doing anything they can—some days they fire more, other days less. Yesterday, there was more because we sat in our homes and clearly heard those shots,' said Hakobyan, adding that the gunfire was not targeted, leaving only speculation about their purpose.
It should be noted that last night the adversary initiated aggressive military operations along the borders of the Republic of Armenia, from Sotk to the Verin Shorja area. When asked whether the gunfire from Shushi is connected to the attack that started in Gegharkunik, Hakobyan responded, 'All this began when a history was written for Armenia in cooperation with the Turks, and it was accepted. The next phase of this scenario occurred when Artsakh was surrendered by this government, at the cost of thousands of our brave compatriots' lives. If you recall Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's last words, he surrendered Artsakh to save the lives of 30,000 soldiers, which did not align with reality; it was simply an outrageous lie. Now the third phase of the scenario is being implemented: another show, another theater, where, unfortunately, we already have three casualties, and let my words not become a reality—I hope I am mistaken, but this will continue. Now the Azerbaijani side is stating clearly, not just intimidating and creating panic, but insisting that the Armenian authorities quickly proceed to finish the demarcation and delimitation works and subsequently sign the document known as the peace treaty, which the Armenian authorities neither deny nor confirm. However, it’s clear to all of us that that document is already on the table.'
Hakobyan notes that before the negotiations in Moscow, the Armenian side is staging this circus with the Azerbaijani side to show that we are once again on the brink of war. 'They are showing that now Nikol 'saved' almost the entire territory of Armenia by giving a small part, saving many lives in exchange for fewer casualties. All of this is just theater. The sad thing is that time will still be needed for the people to understand all this and to awaken, because their own sons are dying, they are protecting these authorities, but in the end, it’s our children who are dying. I don’t know why our people are asleep at this moment and what could be worse than this that prevents our people from waking up and ousting these authorities. Because fearing that something might be worse if they oust these authorities simply cannot be the case. The worst has already happened,' said Hakobyan.
