Rubinyan on Possibility of Appealing to the UN

The UN Security Council is a body that reaches decisions by consensus. This was stated today, July 28, by Ruben Rubinyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' party, during a broadcast on Public Television, addressing the question of whether Armenia is considering the possibility of appealing to the UN Security Council.

“Engaging in processes there makes sense only if certain homework has been done, meaning certain actions must be taken beforehand. Overall, this process should occur opportunely. If such an opportunity arises, we will take action. At this point, we are informing the international community and our partners about what has transpired and expect an appropriate response. With those entities with whom we have a legal agreement base designed for such cases, we are taking actions to utilize the tools provided by the agreements,” he stated.

Regarding the meeting of the defense ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia in Moscow, Rubinyan said, “You know that since May 12, we have been in discussions and communication about the situation that has arisen, including with our Russian partners. Our proposal has been the mirrored withdrawal of troops from both sides and the deployment of Russian border guards and international observers, which would create an opportunity to begin the process of demarcation and delimitation in the future. These discussions are within that scope.”
