Human Rights Defender Reports Gunfire from Azerbaijani Forces in Gegharkunik Region
As of 10:30 AM, reports have been received from civilian residents that Azerbaijani armed forces are firing towards the villages of Sotk, Kut, Azat, Norabak, Nerk'in Shorja, and Verin Shorja in Armenia's Gegharkunik province. The villages of Kut and Verin Shorja are particularly vulnerable and are under immediate fire.
This information was shared by Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page. He specifically noted, "The gunfire is intense, with rounds being fired from both small and large caliber weapons." The Human Rights Defender has acknowledged the official statement from the Armenian Ministry of Defense, which indicates that these Azerbaijani military attacks have political motives. Thus, the Defender calls upon international organizations to pay attention to this statement.
The regional division of the Human Rights Defender's Office in Gegharkunik has verified facts indicating that the gunfire is continuously provoked by the Azerbaijani armed forces. These shots are fired in close proximity to Armenian villages and are aimed directly at them, indicating a unified intent that violates the rights, life, and peace of Armenian civilian residents.
