David Babayan on the Gunfire from Shushi

David Babayan on the Gunfire from Shushi

Member of the Artsakh National Assembly's "Justice" faction, Metakse Hakobyan, stated in an interview with a news outlet that the gunfire from Shushi has been more intense recently, while the authorities in Artsakh remain silent about it.

“We hear these shots in Stepanakert. Since November 9, there hasn’t been a day without the Turks firing. They shoot into the air and target specific locations; they do whatever they want, just on some days it’s a bit more, and on others, a bit less. Yesterday, it was more intense because we could clearly hear those shots from our homes,” she said.

Auroranews attempted to contact the Artsakh Defense Army, but calls went unanswered. However, we managed to reach David Babayan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh. He noted that he cannot comment officially but believes responsible agencies should address the situation.

When asked how he would comment on the gunfire as a citizen, he indicated that this was a policy adopted by the Azerbaijani armed forces, which they will not abandon. Azerbaijan aims to depopulate Artsakh, and with each bullet fired, they intend to instill fear and create a sense of vulnerability among the population. Each bullet costs between 400 to 500 drams; they spend nothing but attempt to solve the problem of depopulating Artsakh through spreading fear.
