Two Major Cities in Russia Predicted to be Underwater by the 22nd Century, Climate Scientists Warn

Russian climate scientists have predicted that two major cities in Russia will sink underwater. According to experts, due to global warming, both Saint Petersburg and Arkhangelsk will be submerged.

The President of the Climate and Energy Program at the World Wildlife Fund Russia, Alexei Kokorin, expressed that rising sea levels could threaten to obliterate major cities in the country within the next century. He noted that one of the greatest challenges in the 22nd century will be the rise of global ocean levels, which could reach, at worst estimates, up to 5 meters.

The only way to avoid these crises, he emphasized, is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
