Online Taxi Prices Have Significantly Increased, Citizens Report
In Armenia, taxi service prices have significantly increased. ArmLur.am reports that citizens' complaints about this issue continue unabated. Notably, even the Statistical Committee of Armenia has commented on this, indicating that the transport service sector has recorded a 0.2% rise.
Primarily, online taxi service prices have gone up. For example, one online taxi service has raised its minimum fare from 300-400 drams to 800-900 drams. Another online taxi service increased its minimum fare from 600 drams to 1200 drams. Meanwhile, citizens are complaining about a deficit of taxis in Yerevan, stating that it is nearly impossible to find a free vehicle after the second half of the day.
It turns out that there are drivers who refuse to drive in this heat because they cannot turn on the air conditioning, as it consumes more fuel. Additionally, there are drivers who prefer to take tourist orders with their own cars during these days. The Competition Protection Commission cannot intervene in this matter or implement price controls, as there are no operators with a dominant position in the market.
