Names of Organizers of Ashot Bolyan's Murder Released; Two are Armenian

The verdict in the case of the murder of three-time boxing world champion Ashot Bolyan has been published in Moscow. This was reported on Tuesday, July 27, by Lyudmila Nefedova, an official representative of the capital's prosecutor's office.

According to the ruling of the Cheryomushkinsky Court, all three individuals will serve their sentences in a strict regime colony. The organizer of the murder, Ashak Balagozyan, received 10 years, while his accomplices, Andrey Borisenko and Andranik Sirakanyan, were sentenced to 11 and 8 years, respectively. All three were convicted under Article 105, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder by a group of individuals”).

The court confirmed that in September 2019, Balagozyan received an order to kill the fighter. He involved his acquaintances Sirakanyan and Borisenko in the commission of the crime. The men studied the victim's daily routine. On the day of the murder, November 13, 2019, they shot Bolyan near his home on Nakhimovsky Avenue.

Earlier, a version had emerged suggesting that Bolyan's murder was revenge for the organized killing of Andranik Harutyunyan, who is known in the criminal world as the thief in law, Masivtsi Andik.
