New Details Emerge from the Tragic Car Accident in Shirak: Deceased Children Were Citizens of Greece

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, by the decision of Paruyr Nalbandyan, the senior investigator of particularly important cases at the Investigative Committee of Shirak Province, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code (traffic accident resulting in the death of 2 or more persons due to negligence).

As part of the initiated case, the identities of those who died in the tragic car accident yesterday, on July 24, in the area known as "Jardidzor" in Shirak Province, have been clarified, along with those injured and the driver.

Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that it has been established that the Nissan Pathfinder was driven by 32-year-old Vardan Khalikyan from Yerevan. As a result of the accident, V. Khalikyan, passengers 10-year-old Alex Iraklidis and 12-year-old Kristina Iraklidis, who were citizens of Greece, and Edgar Kochinyan, who was also in the vehicle (identity, residency, and age details are being clarified), have died. Meanwhile, 33-year-old Lusine Khalikyan, 39-year-old Arpine Gyurjinyan, and 32-year-old Garnik Harutyunyan from Yerevan have been hospitalized with bodily injuries.

According to G. Shamshyan's information, the deceased children were siblings, and the driver was their maternal uncle. The other deceased individual was his daughter-in-law. The driver served in the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia and had performed exceptionally alongside his comrades during the recent 44-day war in Artsakh, operating in the most intense areas and successfully accomplishing his assigned tasks.
