Knife-Wielding Armed Robbery in Yerevan

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, a criminal case has been initiated in the Central Police Department based on the characteristics of points 1 and 4 of part 2 of Article 275 of the RA Criminal Code. As reported by photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan, the case was initiated on July 24, following operational information received by the Central Police Department.

On that day, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Central Police received operative information that a 25-year-old resident of one of the buildings on K'ajaznuni Street, Arthur G., had been the victim of an armed robbery, during which money was stolen under the threat of a knife.

According to the photo journalist, on the same day, police officers from the 4th division of the Yerevan city police’s criminal investigation department, along with the Central Police Department’s criminal investigation unit, conducted necessary operational-search activities based on hot trails. They apprehended two residents of Yerevan, 22-year-old Georgi S. and 19-year-old Hovhannes D., from an area not far from the crime scene on suspicion of having committed the robbery.

Sources indicate that during a personal search, one of them was found in possession of the knife used in the crime and the stolen money.

As part of the criminal case initiated in the Central Police Department, Georgi S. and Hovhannes D. have been arrested as suspects. According to G. Shamshyan’s information, the incident occurred in the apartment of the victim, Arthur K., under the threat of a knife.
