Photos: Monuments of the Demolished Neighborhood

In the Yerevan neighborhood of Firdus, where demolition has already begun and construction of the 33rd neighborhood is planned, there are 11 monument-buildings. This was reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports in response to our inquiry, according to Hetq.am.

Recently, a house located at 80 Firdus has been added to the list of these 11 monuments. Four of the monuments are on Republic Avenue, while six are on Tigran the Great Boulevard. When asked whether there are developed concepts for all these monuments, the ministry did not respond. It only provided the sketch project regarding the reinforcement, restoration, and alteration of the monument at 46 Republic Avenue, which has received the ministry's approval.

It should be noted that the government assures that no monuments will be demolished, and only the monument at 46 Republic Avenue is located in the construction zone.

The building at 30 Republic Avenue was the residential home of Mikhail Von der Nonne, constructed in 1895, following the design of the same architect, Nonne. It served as the headquarters of the Armenian division from 1922 to 1937. It is a monument of national significance.

The building at 32 Republic Avenue is an early 20th-century structure designed by architect Vasily Mirzoyan. It formerly served as the administrative building of the governor's office. It is also a monument of national significance.

The building at 46 Republic Avenue is a residential building constructed at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It is a monument of local significance. It is the only building in the demolition zone.

According to the sketch project provided by the ministry, after restoration, it will appear as follows:

All monuments on Tigran the Great Boulevard are of local significance and are residential houses. Specifically, the building at 1 Tigran the Great is a residential home built in the early 20th century, while the building at 9 Tigran the Great is a residential house constructed at the end of the 19th century. The building at 15 Tigran the Great was built in the 20th century.
