Georgian Company Producing Condoms with Putin's Image Wins Case on Immoral Advertising at ECHR

The Georgian company "Aisa," known for producing condoms packaged with images of Vladimir Putin, Joseph Stalin, and Kim Jong-un, has won a case against the Georgian authorities at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding immoral advertising. As reported by Настоящее время, the complaint was submitted to the ECHR in 2018.

The company's management had contested a fine of 500 lari (approximately $162) imposed by a Georgian court on the company's owner, Anania Gachechiladze, on the grounds that using religious images and portrayals of historical figures on condom packaging violated moral principles.

The company previously gained notoriety for depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin's likeness on its packaging. The producer also features images of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
