In Gyumri, a Sergeant from the 102nd Military Base Attempted to Break into an Unknown Apartment at Midnight
On July 18 at approximately 4:00 AM, an extraordinary incident occurred in one of the buildings on Gandilyan Street in Gyumri. According to the report by Aravot, one of the residents called the police requesting urgent assistance, as an unfamiliar man, whose speech she could not understand, was attempting to invade their apartment. The woman also reported that the stranger seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, continuously knocking on and hitting their apartment door.
Upon arriving at the address, police officers invited a 35-year-old Russian citizen, identified as A.S., to the Kumayri police station in front of that apartment. It turned out that he resides in the 8th military district of Gyumri and is a sergeant, commanding a combat vehicle at the 102nd military base.
The sergeant explained that on July 17, around 11:00 PM, he had gone out alone for a walk near the train station square. He entered a night club there, where he consumed alcoholic beverages and, having lost his sense of direction and confused, entered a building, knocking on an apartment door, mistakenly believing it to be his own.
The police checked the level of sobriety of the Russian sergeant, which was recorded at 0.98 mg/l, and then released him. The woman who called the police declined to file a report. Materials are being prepared in the Kumayri police department.
