Details on the Murder of Armenian Major Ruslan Abovyan: Suspect is a Citizen of Chechnya
On the night of July 24, Major Ruslan Abovyan, the deputy head of criminal investigation, was murdered in a parking lot in Stavropol. Law enforcement is currently searching for the perpetrator.
Footage from security cameras has surfaced online, showing the assailant, wearing a medical mask and gloves, emerging from the bushes and approaching a police vehicle to open fire with a handgun. Abovyan attempted to escape, but the assailant managed to reach him and continued shooting. Afterward, he vanished in a "VAZ-2109" vehicle.
According to the Telegram channel "Опер Слил," the suspected murderer may be 44-year-old Zaurbek Keniev, who was born in Chechnya and is currently wanted by authorities. Baza reports that his murder may have been an act of revenge. Abovyan had participated in a special operation in Chechnya back in 2015, leading to the death of local resident Jambulat Dadayev, who was suspected of committing serious crimes. At that time, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov stated that the actions of security forces had not been coordinated with the authorities.
