Video Captures Explosion of Car's Gas Cylinder; 35-Year-Old Driver Dies

On July 22, 2021, at 15:15, the police department in Noyemberyan received a report about an explosion of a car's gas cylinder near the Bagratashen customs point.

According to the facts obtained from the materials prepared regarding the incident, on the same day, around 15:10, a 35-year-old resident of Vanadzor was driving a Mercedes-Benz E-350 vehicle when the gas cylinder exploded while traveling from Bagratashen toward the border of the Republic of Georgia. As a result of the explosion, the driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee under part 2, point 3 of Article 279 of the RA Criminal Code. An examination of the scene has been conducted, during which copies of recordings from surveillance cameras at nearby commercial premises along the Vanadzor-Georgia interstate roadway have been obtained, an external examination of the body has taken place, and a forensic medical examination has been assigned. The preliminary investigation continues.
