VIDEO: Flooding in China; Water Fills Running Subway, Initial Reports Indicate 12 Dead

The subway tunnel in the city of Zhengzhou, China, has flooded due to heavy rains, resulting in at least 12 fatalities and 5 injuries, according to reports from TASS.

A large volume of water accumulated in the city metro station due to intense precipitation, which subsequently overflowed into the tunnel. Metro authorities have suspended services. Around 500 people have been evacuated from the tunnel.

In recent days, the central and western regions of Henan Province experienced rainfall between 50-90 mm, while Zhengzhou, considered the central city, recorded rainfall of up to 329 mm.
