The Government Will Benefit Again from the CEC Decision: 'Hraparak'

'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) made a decision at its extraordinary meeting yesterday, changing the voting dates for the upcoming community elections this year. It was previously determined that the elections would take place on September 26 and October 17. According to the new decision, the election dates have been set for October 17 and November 14.

This change is explained by the CEC on the grounds that two new factions have entered the parliament, and time must be given for them to exercise their powers legally, namely, to nominate candidates for membership in the precinct electoral commissions. To organize this process, first, people need to be recruited, and then licensing training courses must be conducted. In addition, CEC Secretary Armen Smbatyan stated that there are also other technical issues that the CEC needs to resolve.

Incidentally, this change will naturally benefit the government primarily, as it will have the opportunity before October 17 to appoint interim leaders in place of community leaders whose terms have expired and apply administrative resources in the elections.'
