What the Composition of the National Assembly Looks Like
According to the daily newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the process of resigning parliamentary mandates by candidates in the Central Electoral Commission concluded yesterday. Accordingly, 17 individuals have resigned from the parliamentary mandate from the ruling Civil Contract party, while three members have done so from the Armenia alliance. The resignations from the Civil Contract party primarily come from regional governors or individuals who are expected to receive positions in the executive branch.
As a result, the National Assembly will have 105 deputies, many of whom are newcomers not only from the opposition forces but also from the ruling Civil Contract party. This time, Lilit Makunts, Ararat Mirzoyan, and Hakob Simidyan will not go to parliament from the Civil Contract party. Narek Mkrtchyan and Armen Pambukyan will retain their positions.
Newcomers from the Civil Contract party to the parliament include Khachatur Sukiasyan, Gurgen Arsenyan, Gagik Melikyan, Hakob Arshakyan, Eduard Aghajanian, Vigen Khachatryan, Zarouhi Batoyan, Vilen Gabrielian, Alkhaz Ghazaryan, Tirdat Sargsyan, and Hasmik Hakobyan.
From the Armenia alliance, the second president of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, along with alliance members Aleksandr Khachatryan and Marianna Yeghyrevyan, have resigned from their parliamentary mandates. No one from the "Honorary" alliance's electoral list has resigned, and the first seven candidates—Arthur Vanetsyan, Taron Margaryan, Anna Mkrtchyan, Ishkhan Zakaryan, Hayk Mamijanyan, Taguhi Tovmasyan, and Tigran Abrahamyan—will take their mandates.
Additionally, it should be noted that tomorrow the Central Electoral Commission will announce the date of the first session of the eighth convocation of parliament, which will take place on August 2.
