Massive Decaying Maple Falls in Arabkir, Damaging Several Vehicles

Today, on July 22, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. At approximately 00:20, due to a strong wind, a massive maple tree was uprooted in front of building No. 26 on Vahram Papazyan Street in the Arabkir administrative district, blocking the road.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, the fallen tree damaged parked vehicles including a Kia Cerato, Kia Forte, and Opel Astra in the permissible area of the road.

Fortunately, according to preliminary information, there were no injuries. An operational team from the Emergency Situations Ministry’s firefighting and rescue squad No. 5 quickly arrived at the scene.

Upon being informed of the incident, the head of the Arabkir administrative district, Aram Danielyan, dispatched staff for landscape maintenance who, with the help of special equipment, worked alongside the rescuers to dismantle the tree.

Traffic in the specified area was halted for over three hours, and officers from the Yerevan city police patrol service were present to prevent curious drivers from parking their vehicles and causing congestion.

Additionally, employees from the Yerevan city municipality’s “Yerekaluyts” closed joint-stock company promptly arrived to dismantle the electrical wires that had fallen on the road.

By order of the General Director of Gazprom Armenia, Garnik Movsisyan, workers from the Yerevan gas distribution network also came to determine whether the fallen tree had caused any damage to the gas pipeline. Fortunately, no such incident occurred.
